WordPress Training for ‘Sheffield Info Link’

A full day of on-site training for 10 ‘Sheffield Info Link’ employees.

With two existing WordPress sites and potentially more on the horizion, Sharron Baroudi of Sheffield Info link was looking for training which would provide employees with a better understanding of the finer points of WordPress. The group was an excellent mix of technical and non-technical, with all abilities taking somthing from the day. It was great fun to work with such a friendly, relaxed group.

A WordPress site for a local community wind band based in Harrogate, with approximately 100 members.

The site offers the band membership the opportunity to communicate socially, with each member having their own site log in. Using the Social features members can befriend each other, send/receive notes and provide comments. In addition an ‘Events’ module allows members to register and RSVP for upcoming, rehearsals and competitions; while a site wide email system proves site editors the ability to communicate with the whole membership.

Containing, full width colour background, featured slider images, with bespoke text and buttons on the home page to make the site more user interactive.

We recently finished this latest site, thompsonsauctioners.com. Thompsons Auctioneers, offer antique auctions every Friday in their ‘Dales Sale Room’ in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Sale items are catalogued and photographed every Wednesday and uploaded to the site on a Wednesday evening; iframes are used to good effect to display up to 1000 images and ‘Lot’ descriptions every week. Prospective customers can browse any of the ‘previous weeks’ auctions or the ‘current weeks’ auction and bid to purchase ‘Sale Lots’ using the bespoke Email Bidding form.

Both, excellent, simple to use tools if your dealing with images for you blog posts. Batch photo resizer is particularly good. Free personal and educational usage, registration required for commercial use. Try them out !

A subtle and simplistic business website, with static pages and a blog. The ‘non-technical’ site owner can login, change/add pages and blog content, without fear of corrupting the site layout. This cost effective but appropriate site is built using a free modular page theme. A half day, one-to-one, WordPress Training course was included.
